Adventure Together

Couples Camp is a primitive weekend camping experience designed to re-energize the most important relationship in your life: your marriage. Remember the way you felt about your spouse when you first met? The possibility. The energy. The excitement. It's still there, and this weekend is built to give you space to re-discover it again, or build to the next level.

Through fun, teaching, downtime, and worship, connect with your spouse on a level you didn’t think possible, while surrounded by thousands of others moving in the same direction. Nothing else in our society is designed to build into marriage, and it’s too important to leave to chance. The investment of one weekend can be the push you need to get to a new place.

THE BASICS

What to Pack

Food

We’ll supply lunch on Saturday, as well as beer/wine/soda/water. Beyond that, you’ll need to bring your own food for dinner Friday, breakfast and dinner Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Bring food that can be stored without refrigeration, and that doesn’t need a whole lot of prep time. Clif Bars, jerky, cheese and crackers are all great options.

Clothes

Two main ideas: keep yourself dry, and dress in layers. Extra socks, a jacket for night, a rain layer, etc. You’ll also want sturdy boots, or something rugged enough to handle hiking on the land all day.

Gear

At a minimum you'll need a sleeping bag, camp chairs, headlamps, water bottles, and something to eat on. You'll work with your pre-assigned unit to figure out big stuff like tents and coolers.

GETTING THERE

Flights & Travel

Couples Camp takes place on 700 acres of land called Base Camp just east of Cincinnati, Ohio.

The nearest airport to Base Camp is the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) which is approximately 45 minutes away.

Keep in mind Couples Camp runs Friday evening until Sunday morning. You will need to plan flights around that time, factoring in travel to and from camp.

You Might Be Asking

Do we need to be a married couple to attend Couples Camp?

Yes, Couples Camp is designed for a man and woman who are married.

What should we bring?

Once you’re signed up you’ll get a packing list.

How are campsites organized?

Campsites are 3-5 couples led by Camp Leads. We do our best to honor campsite requests. No matter who you end up with there will be lots of time to mingle with friends and make new ones. You are already coming with the most important person for the weekend.

Is hiking in required or can we car camp?

New this year, car camping is permitted. Roof top tents are great, too. Just no RV’s or pull-behind trailers. And if you’re the adventurous type and want to park and hike in with your gear, plenty of others will be doing that, too. For more info, check this out.

Will there be alcohol at this event?

Yes. While it is optional and certainly not the focus, alcohol will be present.

How long is it?

If you’re in, you’re in for the whole weekend. That means Friday evening until Sunday morning.

What time do we arrive Friday and leave Sunday?

Campsites start driving in at 4pm EST and gates close at 6:30pm EST. As long as you are inside the gate between 4-6:30 you're good. Your entire Campsite group must be present to check in. The event ends late Sunday morning, plan to be there until noon EST.

What if we’ve never camped before?

Awesome. You’re in for a great time. Your Camp Leads will help to make sure you’re prepared. It’s only two nights. You’ve got this.

What if we don’t know anybody?

Totally fine. There are going to be plenty of new folks to meet. And if you and your spouse just want alone time there will be space for that, too.

What if we don't go to church or are not religious?

Cool. There will be plenty of other couples there just like you. Couples Camp includes intentional spiritual content, but its application goes beyond four walls and a steeple. We know you’ll both still get something out of it.

What if my spouse or I are pregnant?

Congrats! Use your judgment on whether or not mama wants to sleep on the ground. And talk to your doctor ahead of time. We’ll have volunteer medics on-site, but not a midwife.

What if I am a nursing mom?

There is a place designated with electricity to pump, although we don’t have facilities to refrigerate. Please bring a cooler or be prepared to pump and dump.

What if it rains?

Being in nature is a lot like being married. You don’t get to choose the good times. If it gets a little damp we’ll lean in and make the most of it.

What if there’s an emergency at home?

We’ll have a system in place for folks to reach you in the case of an emergency. If you need to leave, we’ll help make that happen.

What if we need to cancel?

Sorry, no refunds after registration. If you cancel we’ll give your spot to another couple on the waiting list.
